How To Find a Blue Cross Federal Rehab in Virginia

According to the CDC, over 95,000 people die from alcohol abuse, and another 70,000 people pass away from drug overdoses every year.

Those are shocking statistics in a world where we have effective rehab facilities. One of the main reasons people forgo getting the treatment they need is cost. Yet, if you have health insurance, you’re probably covered.

Most rehab facilities are happy to work with major health insurers. So, if you have health insurance, you’ve got a few choices when it comes to available treatments.

Here’s how you can find sobriety with a Blue Cross Federal rehab in Virginia.

Will Blue Cross Federal Approve of Rehab?

According to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, all health insurers must provide coverage for mental health services. These include substance abuse treatment.

Blue Cross Federal provides effective health care insurance for over 5.3 million people. Most of these are federal employees, their families, and retirees.

FEP BCBS is one of the leading insurance providers in the US. As such, it provides comprehensive coverage for those suffering from substance abuse disorders. The insurer offers several policy plans offering a measure of coverage for a broad range of mental health services.

The amount of coverage you receive depends on your specific policy.

You will need to pay certain deductibles and co-pays, and you need to pass a pre-certification process before you receive your benefits.

Your Options for Blue Cross Federal Rehab in Virginia

There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment for substance abuse. Some people thrive in an outpatient setting, while others need more intensive care at a residential treatment center.

The best type of rehab for you depends entirely on the extent and duration of your problem, your means, and your available time.

There are two major types of rehabilitation available. These are:

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab’s best suited to people who can’t leave their work and family responsibilities for an extended time. This type of treatment involves visiting a rehab center for a specified number of hours per day and then returning home or to a sober living facility at night.

This treatment typically includes daily group therapy sessions, weekly individual counseling sessions, addiction education, skill-building, and 12-Step Meetings.

Apart from complying with your addiction treatment schedule, people in this level of care can continue with their daily routine as usual. As they improve, their sessions decrease in frequency.   Most addiction experts recommend continuing to participate in 12-Step Meetings or therapy sessions after the rehab process has ended.

Outpatient rehab isn’t always the best option for those suffering from severe alcohol or opioid addiction. That’s because the withdrawals from these substances can be life-threatening. So a more intensive medical detox followed by residential treatment is advisable.

Most people with a strong desire to recover and a flexible schedule can find sobriety with outpatient treatment.

Residential Rehab

Residential rehab offers you a total change of scenery from your daily life. It’s ideal for those who need a break from everyday stressors and the triggers that lead them to use.

When you check in to a residential rehab facility, you can remain isolated from the outside world if you choose. While in residence, you’ll undergo around-the-clock monitoring and intensive counseling.

Individual and group counseling are standard, as is a healthy eating and exercise plan. Some facilities offer alternative therapies like life counseling, art therapy, equine therapy, and more.

Rehab with health insurance is cheaper than paying for it all yourself. So, you’ll find you have far more options if you’re insured with Blue Cross Federal.

Paying For Your Addiction Treatment

When you start the search for Blue Cross Federal Insurance rehab centers, it’s important to get all the facts before you sign up.

Blue Cross Federal Insurance offers three insurance plans that pay for your treatment as follows:

Standard Option

This plan has an annual deductible of $350, but it doesn’t apply to mental health services. You pay $25 for each visit to a practitioner and 15% coinsurance for outpatient services with an in-network provider. If you visit an out-of-network provider, you pay 35% coinsurance.

For residential services, you pay $350 per admission for rehab services with an in-network facility and 35% coinsurance for professional services, as well as 35% coinsurance for facility care with an out-of-network provider.

Basic Option

There is no coverage provided for out-of-network care if you have this policy with Blue Cross Federal. If you opt for an in-network provider, you pay $30 per visit for professional outpatient services.

You pay $175 per day up to a maximum of $875 per admission for treatment at a residential facility.

This plan has no deductibles.

FEP Blue Focus

You pay 30% coinsurance for both residential and outpatient services with an in-network provider. There’s no coverage for out-of-network providers.

This plan has a $500 annual deductible.

It’s best to speak to your insurer about how much they’ll pay according to your specific circumstances. Then you can work out how much extra you can afford.

Most rehabs will work with you to figure out various payment methods for any rehab costs that aren’t covered by your insurance. Some allow payment plans, and you can also apply for a grant to help you with the costs.

If you’re in dire straits, you can also search for state-funded rehab centers in Virginia.
