Substance Abuse Counselor/Addiction Therapist
We’re seeking passionate counselors and therapist to join our clinical team. Our skilled substance abuse clinicians provide individualized counseling as well as facilitate group therapy. They are essential in guiding clients through early recovery and empowering them to build lasting recovery skills. This role offers the chance to collaborate daily with our supportive interdisciplinary clinical team, engage in ongoing training, receive weekly in-house clinical supervision and make a meaningful difference. Responsibilities:● Performs client evaluation and assessment interviews to determine necessity and level of treatment; refers to other programs as appropriate● With client participation, develops individualized treatment plans for review by treatment team● Reviews progress and updates plans at intervals based upon program requirement● Conducts and documents individual counseling sessions as required● Conducts and documents group counseling, including psycho-education, therapeutic process and relapse prevention group sessions● Coordinates client treatment with the Clinical Team, program coordinators and other staff as appropriate● Develops aftercare plans and discharge summaries● Presents educational lectures for client groups as directed● Participates in in-service training● Presents on topics of expertise as requested● Performs crisis intervention work and/or prepares families or employers for planned interventions as necessary● Completes documentation and reports in a legible, accurate and timely fashion
Required Qualifications:● To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.● Master’s Level (preferred)● Master's degree or soon to complete Master's in a behavioral health field: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Addictions.● At least two years working in the treatment of chemical dependencyMust be one of the following:● QMHP-A credentialed or be eligible to obtain it.● License eligible (supervision for licensure)● Licensed by the Virginia Board● Substance Abuse credentialing or eligibility to pursue credentialing within the Commonwealth of VirginiaOr● Bachelor’s Level● Bachelor's degree in the behavioral health field: Psychology, Social Work or Addictions with emphasis on counseling techniques● At least one year working in the treatment of chemical dependency● Must hold the QMHC-A credential or be eligible to obtain it.● Knowledge of chemical dependency treatment, principles of self-help support groups, and available community resources● Ability to communicate and consult effectively with other health professionals● If applicant declares self to be recovery, s/he must be free of active chemical dependency for a minimum of two years.

At Bridging the Gaps, we believe that recovery doesn’t take a break, and our residential staff serves as the 'anchor' for our residential houses. You aren’t just monitoring a building or 'covering a shift'; you are the primary point of safety and stability for our residents. We are looking for an individual who understands that their presence ensures our clients feel safe, supported, and cared for during the quietest—and often most vulnerable—hours of their journey.
The Schedule: Evening Shift (3pm-11pm); Overnight Shift (11pm-9:30am); Weekend Shifts (11am-11pm or 11pm-11am)

Willing to Learn: In-house training for CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration Certification.

Peer Recovery Specialist
BTG is actively seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist that is wanting to make a difference by supporting adults in early substance abuse treatment. Our Peer Recovery Specialists are an integral member of the BTG interdisciplinary team that implements and monitors treatment for clients in the residential and independent living continuum.

Requirements:– Upholds all DBHDS licensure requirements pertaining to the residence;– Supports and behaves within BTG philosophy and regulations;– Coordinates client treatment with the Clinical Team, the Residential Staff, program coordinators, and other staff as appropriate;– Delivers Group Services center on recovery activities/behaviors, Living Skills, Recovery Literature and other components of client treatment as directed;– Presents educational lectures for client groups as directed;– Participates in in-service trainings; presents on topics of expertise as requested;– Completes documentation and reports in a legible, accurate, and timely fashion;– The nature of the position requires the individual to be willing to work weekends. As such a desirable quality is a “self-starter” with the ability to function autonomously under the supervision of the clinical director, or other licensed designee. It is also recommended that the individual be comfortable with delivering group services centered around topics directly linked to recovery activities and behaviors to the client population.– Oversees safety and wellness of clients and residence during the evening, overnight, and weekend hours;– Administers and documents client nutrients and medications;– Completes, safeguards, and delivers client paperwork as directed;– Collaborates with Clinical Staff regarding client progress and issues on a daily basis;– Communicates with Administrative Staff regarding client schedules and appointments;– Transports clients as directed;– Performs other tasks and duties as instructed.
Required Qualifications:– Minimum of a High School Diploma;– Must attend and pass Board of Nursing Medication Administration training;– Valid Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist Certificate– Valid driver’s license;– Ability to pass a fingerprint background check as deemed by DBHDS;– Knowledge of chemical dependency treatment, principles of self-help support groups, and available community resources;– If applicant declares self to be in recovery, s/he must be free of mood altering dependency for a minimum of two years.
