Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Bridging the Gaps is committed to providing high-quality and cost-effective services for those with substance abuse. Our intensive outpatient programs (IOP) in Virginia for substance abuse are designed as part of our continuum of care.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

An intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a form of treatment for individuals dealing with substance use issues. It provides an individualized program that offers specific treatment services while allowing the patient to remain in their home environment. IOP is designed to help those who may not need full residential treatment but could benefit from a more intensive level of care than what is available in traditional outpatient settings.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Outpatient care is structured with one individual session a week with a therapist and possible weekly peer-run group sessions. Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient programs by offering more therapeutic contact hours per week. With IOP, patients can receive comprehensive treatment while still having the flexibility to maintain their responsibilities outside of a residential setting.

Benefits of IOP at Bridging the Gaps

Intensive outpatient programs are a fraction of the cost of residential treatment programs. This more affordable option can be a viable solution for many who have the appropriate structure and family support at home.

Benefits of IOP at Bridging the Gaps include:

Benefits of Having Family Support During IOP

In our intensive outpatient rehab programs, clients continue to live at home while engaging in treatment. For some, continuing to live in an environment that is considered comfortable and familiar can be reassuring.

Since people typically draw comfort from the people they live with, support from family members can be beneficial throughout the client’s recovery process.  Substance abuse intensive outpatient programs allow a level of flexibility necessary for many who are required to deal with day-to-day responsibilities while they obtain care for their addictions.

Our Addiction IOP Treatment Options

At Bridging the Gaps, we offer a half-day IOP program as well as virtual IOP services. Both of these options provide the same quality of care and are designed to help individuals struggling with addiction establish new ways of living free from drugs or alcohol.

Half-Day Intensive Outpatient Program

Bridging the Gaps recognizes that different people require different options for care, which is why we offer a half-day intensive outpatient program. Through this program, individuals are able to continue with their daily routines while also getting the help they need. We believe that this is an effective way to ensure a successful recovery from substance use disorders.

BTG offers the following treatment options for the IOP level of care:

  •  Five days a week 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
  •  Three days a week 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

How Long are IOP Programs for Addiction?

The length of time for an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Virginia can vary depending on the individual’s needs and the severity of their condition.  Generally, most IOPs will last for 8-12 weeks but can range from 6-18 weeks. It is important to note that IOP programs are meant to provide an intensive level of support and treatment in a short amount of time before transitioning back into the community or home environment.

Types of Addiction Bridging the Gaps Treats

At our addiction treatment facility, we offer an IOP program that is tailored to treating a variety of substance use disorders. This includes those related to alcohol, opioids, marijuana, methamphetamine, and benzodiazepines. In addition, we also provide services for individuals who are in recovery from co-occurring mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Who Can Benefit From IOP for Addiction?

IOP is beneficial for many individuals who are dealing with substance abuse. Whether you’re struggling with addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs, or street drugs, an intensive outpatient program may provide the level of care necessary for recovery.

Depending on the severity of your addiction and any underlying mental health disorders, IOP may be recommended by your healthcare provider or treatment center. IOP is best suited for those who don’t require 24-hour monitoring but need the structure of a therapeutic program in order to develop healthy habits and gain insight into their addiction.

Additionally, individuals who are considering our virtual IOP services should meet certain criteria. This includes having a supportive home environment, access to technology and the internet, and the ability to show up on time and participate regularly during IOP sessions with full commitment.
