Bridging the Gaps Ranked #1 in Virginia in Newsweek’s 2026 Addiction Treatment Center Rankings
Bridging the Gaps has been ranked #1 in Virginia on Newsweek’s America’s Best Residential Addiction Treatment Centers 2026 list.
The national recognition places our Winchester addiction treatment center at the top of the Virginia rankings and reflects several aspects of addiction treatment quality, including professional reputation, credentials, available care services, and patient reviews.
For more than 25 years, Bridging the Gaps has worked with individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, providing personalized treatment within an intimate, supportive environment. Being recognized at the state and national level is an important milestone for our team, but more importantly, it reinforces the standards of care we work to maintain for every person who enters our program.
What the Newsweek Ranking Recognizes
Newsweek partnered with global statistics and market research organization Statista to develop the 2026 edition of America’s Best Residential Addiction Treatment Centers.
A total of 440 addiction treatment centers across the United States were recognized in the 2026 ranking. Bridging the Gaps holds the #1 position among the residential addiction treatment centers ranked in Virginia.
Rather than relying on a single measure, the Newsweek and Statista methodology considered multiple sources of information about each eligible facility.
The evaluation included:
- Professional reputation, based on recommendations and quality assessments from healthcare professionals and addiction treatment center administrators.
- Credentials, including relevant national accreditations, certifications, and licenses.
- Care services, including recovery support, education, and counseling services.
- Patient reviews, incorporating review data from Rehabs.com, Recovery.com, and Google Reviews.
Professional reputation accounted for the largest portion of the overall score, followed by credentials, care services, and patient-review data. The professional survey also considered quality of care, follow-up care, service, accommodations, and amenities.
Bridging the Gaps is listed first among the Virginia treatment centers included in Newsweek’s 2026 ranking.
More Than 25 Years of Individualized Addiction Treatment
For Bridging the Gaps, the recognition reflects a philosophy that has shaped our treatment programs for more than two decades: effective recovery requires care for the whole person.
Located in Winchester, Virginia, Bridging the Gaps provides addiction treatment in an intimate 24-bed setting, allowing our clinical team to develop treatment plans around each client’s individual circumstances, experiences, challenges, and recovery goals.
Our continuum of care includes:
- Residential addiction treatment
- Partial hospitalization
- Intensive outpatient treatment
- Comprehensive aftercare
Treatment integrates clinical services with trauma-focused care, holistic approaches, recovery education, and ongoing support.
A Continuum of Care Built Around Lasting Recovery
Residential treatment can provide the structure and concentrated support needed during an important stage of recovery, but recovery continues long after a residential stay ends.
That is why Bridging the Gaps provides multiple levels of care designed to help clients continue building skills, stability, and support as their needs change.
The Newsweek methodology specifically recognizes the role residential treatment centers play in providing structured environments and intensive support for people facing substance use disorders, trauma, and other complex behavioral health needs.
At Bridging the Gaps, that structured care is combined with individualized treatment and preparation for life beyond the program. Clients have opportunities to better understand the patterns connected to their substance use, strengthen coping and recovery skills, address trauma where appropriate, and develop a stronger foundation for continued recovery. Bridging the Gaps also tracks recovery outcomes to better understand how clients progress during treatment and after they leave the program.
Recognized Standards of Addiction Treatment Care
In addition to being ranked #1 in Virginia on Newsweek’s 2026 list, Bridging the Gaps maintains established professional credentials supporting the care provided through our programs.
Bridging the Gaps is:
- Licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services
- Accredited by CARF International
- Certified to provide ASAM Level 3.5 residential services
Credential data represented 35% of Newsweek and Statista’s overall ranking methodology, while professional reputation represented 55%. Care services and patient reviews each contributed an additional 5%.
For individuals and families evaluating addiction treatment programs, rankings and accreditations can provide useful information about a facility. They should, however, be considered alongside a person’s individual treatment needs, the program’s clinical approach, available levels of care, and whether the environment feels appropriate for recovery.
Newsweek similarly notes that its ranking should be considered together with other available information when choosing an addiction treatment center.
Continuing Our Commitment to Individuals and Families
Being named the #1 residential addiction treatment center in Virginia in Newsweek’s 2026 ranking is an honor for the entire Bridging the Gaps team.
It also represents something larger than a ranking.
Behind every recognition are the clients who have trusted us with their recovery, families who have supported loved ones through difficult periods, and staff members who continue showing up every day to provide compassionate and individualized care.
After more than 25 years, our goal remains the same: to help people understand their addiction, address the issues that contribute to it, and develop a sustainable foundation for recovery.
